Zona Colonial

The Oldest City in the Americas

Everything worth seeing in Santo Domingo's historic center is within a 15-minute walk of the mansion.

Staying in the Zona Colonial

Hotel Mansión Colonial occupies a restored mansion inside the Zona Colonial, the oldest continuously inhabited European settlement in the Americas and a UNESCO World Heritage site since 1990. Being steps from Calle El Conde — the old city's pedestrian spine — means you can walk to the Cathedral, the Alcázar de Colón, and most of the Colonial Zone's museums, restaurants and nightlife without needing transport.

The courtyard pool and jacuzzi give the property a quiet retreat to return to after a day of walking the old city, and the on-site bar and restaurant mean you're not obligated to go out for every meal. It suits travelers who want to explore Santo Domingo's history on foot rather than stay in a beach resort outside the city.

Getting There & Getting Around

Las Américas International Airport (SDQ) is the main gateway, about 30–40 minutes from the Zona Colonial by taxi or rideshare depending on traffic. La Isabela Airport (JBQ), closer to the north of the city, is a domestic-focused alternative used less often by international travelers.

Once you're in the Zona Colonial, you won't need a car at all — the neighborhood is compact and walkable, with the Cathedral, Alcázar de Colón, Puerta del Conde and Calle El Conde's restaurants and shops all within a 10–15 minute walk of the hotel.
